hour countdown for the 24 hours may be needed. I get involved in sorting out a computer problem elsewhere on the internet, and become so absorbed I forget.
Did anyone else notice they were about 0.1 Nm behind right at the start like some boats started before others? I had set my course before the start but just after there were 2 different groups moving away from the start with about 0.1 Nm between them
I didn't notice that but I guess it is to do with server updates - maybe members get a faster update? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
What I don't understand is how the boats that headed inshore got ahead of us. They had to make 3 tacks as opposed to our one and their wind was 0.2 knots less although they did seem to have 1 degree better wind direction. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
i was using the old downloaded version and I noticed on the chat that the polars were different the best VMG TWA on the new was 29.5 but on the old was 32 or 33 so I guess the server was going by 29.5 being the best. i'm with you, couldn't understand how they did it with less wind and more tacks
You lot are going to have to explain a lot of this stuff to me in detail. I still don't understand enough of the tactics, though I'm learning.
Still, set the alarm to ensure I was going to hit the finish line, and I have, so reeled in a lot of positions after a late start. Lots of boats 'anchored' off shore, or missed the finish line. Back to bed now.
