Sailing Yacht brand ranking

Thanks !

Looks like a nice idea, maybe need to drive down to see the one in Southampton. Looks like a quality boat. Not too far above budget
I agree with the "old money" feel. For a production boat from the boating equivalent of Ikea (i.e. Hanse) it does seem pretty good.

Personally I am not a fan of balsa cores anywhere, and prefer no cores at all in the hull itself, though synthetic cores in the deck moulding make sense.

I am in the process of purchasing a 37' boat from a Danish builder who always prefers balsa core for stiffness when using epoxy resin for binding fibreglass. He uses foam core when using polyester resin. Therefore I think balsa should not be discarded as inferior core material.

Beware teak decks! Lots of threads on here, and lots of expense if they start to leak.
That very much depends on the construction. The ones causing the big problems are older boats where the teak is screwed to the deck and they require replacement after 10-20 years. However, recent boats (such as the Moody being suggested here) have decks that are glued on with no fastenings. Still have some negative aspects, but leaks not one of them.

As said I had a good look @the Hanse Moody 41 less than a year ago. They are 41 foot surprisingly so I think would be just about in the size bracket OP quoted:-P. I did say the oldest were currently a bit above the price bracket, but coming down and as anyone who has bought a boat recently will know, price, especially currently, is often negotiable even at this level. Even tho my boat was < 20% this price, the price I actually eventually paid was 20% less than the original asking price.

Boat Sales International @Hamble Point are the UK dealers and I have to say came across as really nice guys. My wife and I were clearly not anywhere near the threshold of a possible customer, but they were very hospitable, showed us every courtesy and spent time and effort to show us all around the boat & discuss its qualities, of which they were clearly proud. I appreciate that in itself does not validate the boat or build, but a good sign and as said, I was taken by the vessel. I would confirm by the way, that I have absolutely no connection/interest, save being an owner of an old original & genuine Moody, but to me this boat looks pretty worthy of carrying on the name. Sad to say no prospect of ever owning one, but a man can dream!

There are many boats with high quality and they all have something in common: They are expensive.

But they are also very different.

It seems better to me first to chose what type of boat you are interested in and then look for quality on that market sector. You can find high top quality in boats so different as Solaris, IY, Faurby, Garcia, Sirius, Regina, Oyster, Norddship, Advanced, Bestevaer or Fairley (and many others). You have a big choice specially today where the more expensive yachts are selling better than the ones that most people can afford. You just need to have the money and the desire to spend it, the choice is big:).
