Dear All,

With the lifting of the stricter aspects of lockdown, it seems to me that it might be useful to compile a list of those Harbours/areas/marinas etc. that are open with each person replying adding to the list by way of reply. To be useful it really needs to reflect what is actually happening not what is publicised as happening, to that end I would ask respondents to only add information they know to be correct from personal knowledge and add a date to their entry.

I will get the ball rolling;

Chichester Harbour: Sailing allowed, MDL marinas open but no over-night stays (officially), no reliable information on visiting boats, book slot if you need fuel. (14.5.20)

Cowes: ?

Bembridge: ?

Chichester Harbour: Sailing allowed, MDL marinas open but no over-night stays (officially), no reliable information on visiting boats, book slot if you need fuel. (14.5.20) Chi marina open but no over-night stays or visitors. Heads close at 7pm.

Cowes: ?

Bembridge: ?

Based on what has been posted here I think Cowes is still closed.

Current situation on Bembridge is also below;

We have been following the Government's advice in respect of Coronavirus and are putting measures in place to limit risks to port users, our staff, the emergency services and the public. Although the Government is now easing certain aspects of the lockdown in England, there is not yet any specific advice on whether this is applicable to marine leisure activities. The British Ports Association and the UK Harbour Masters' Association are seeking clarification on this with the Government at national level. Specific guidance is expected shortly. Therefore until we have confirmation that marine leisure activities are permitted and any relevant restrictions on them, we are advising that they should not take place. The safety of our Harbour users is paramount.

Furthermore, event when we are able to reopen our facilities, users should be aware that practices to preserve social distancing will be needed as is prescribed in Government advice issued this week (and further specific guidance to be issued). This means that we may need a short period of time to assess risks and modify arrangements. In the meantime we thank you for your patience and understanding.
Further information is available and being regularly updated on the Harbour website: bembridgeharbour.co.uk We share your wish to see safe recreational marine activities resume and to kick start the summer season as soon as is practically possible.

Bealuieu River is still closed and reportedly they haven't yet completed the extension to the marina/visitors spots

Yarmouth Harbour;

The Government has now issued guidance on leisure marine activities but there are still a number of important issues remaining surrounding the reopening of marinas and access to leisure vessels.

Ports, Harbours and marine leisure facilities around the country will need to be assessed and prepared to accommodate social distancing and hygiene measures to comply with their legal Health and Safety obligations. Organisations also need to ensure that risk assessments (which take account of relevant guidance) have been carried out and suitable policies and procedures put in place. To do this properly and safely takes time. A short period of time is therefore needed, once specific guidance is released, to prepare the necessary safety measures for users, staff and the public. This also means that there are likely to be certain measures we all need to follow that could alter what leisure users can do.

In the meantime, for the safety of everyone, we would ask that recreational marine users remain patient and understanding as we continue to prepare. For now, all our shore-based facilities remain closed until further notice.

Portsmouth open as far as QHM concerned if you can get to your boat whilst socially distancing so might be easier for those on swinging moorings than marinas depending on where you launch your dinghy: Wicormarine open.

Poole leaving it up to the marinas, with the usual stuff about not staying overnight

Mariners are hereby advised that, further to yesterday’s update, we have now received additional guidance and clarification from the government that marinas can now be re-opened.

In summary
“This is primarily a matter for the marina operators to decide but if it can be done safely following social distancing guidelines, then it should be possible.”

It will be for individual marina/facility owners to consider whether they are able to restart their services whilst ensuring the safety of their staff and users. Please check with your club or marina before travelling to your boat. The guidance also makes it clear that you must stay at your primary residence therefore, overnight stays on your vessel are not permitted.

Falmouth has reopened as of 13 May. I’m only interested in Mylor Harbour (which isn‘t actually in Falmouth Harbour but Truro!) and they’ve been up and running as of Tuesday. Limited operations, lift ins started and water taxi as of next week (one boat at a time, so things will be slow...).
Falmouth Harbour were grumpy early in the week, sticking to their “no boating“ message and only rescinded the instruction 24 hours after the new rules were released. And that with a rider about no guidance has been given on marina operations.....
