Start of their lithium installation, all Victron.
I think you’d be surprised how much they make between YouTube and Patreon alongside their sponsorships. Not as much as Vagabonde, for sure, but its a good income.Rich dad or mum some where, or lottery winner ! I do not think they earn that much from u tube,
I think they about 100k USD last time I looked, so actually they do.Rich dad or mum some where, or lottery winner ! I do not think they earn that much from u tube,
I suspect their electric drive system was donated/sponsored by the manufacturers for PR, so perhaps Victron donated all the kit?Rich dad or mum some where, or lottery winner ! I do not think they earn that much from u tube,
I don't think it's harsh. I think it's true. They don't give the full picture. It's all about their image.I think thats a little harsh, but it is interesting how many issues they’re now reporting having never mentioned them before. The boat regularly going dark being a biggie. acting as a source of information without disclosing problems is irresponsible in my view.
Generalising. The danger is that if funds come from sponsors and kit from suppliers are they impartial? The kit they are using is not cheap and you, rather, they, want it to be a continuous stream - without the kit they have nothing to say and with nothing to say their lifestyle will be restricted. The second issue being there is no peer review of their product, the videos etc, Geem mentions mistakes and inaccuracies so I'm wrong, there is peer review, but its ephemeral. Why all the negativity and jealousy about their ability to fund the project? They can fund it and that’s the end of it. Good luck to them.
"We decided to design the ultimate electric sail boat."
OK. What we (the viewers) get is a look at the latest (ultimate) equipment.
We lose no skin in this game and can take away from it what we feel is relevant.
We are letting someone else experiment and can sit back and watch (and judge).
No one in their right mind (err, you have a yacht, Gary!!) will take what they say as gospel.
We can comment, question, criticize, laugh, or gape at what they are up to, but in the end we can choose whether to watch or not.
Welcome to Youtube.

I'm sorry but this is simply not the case. Take seacocks or galvanic corrosion as examples, they've printed incorrect information on many occasions as I believe Vyv Cox has repeatedly highlighted and explicitely written to them about. When you read YM or PBO - it enjoys peer review, the editorial staff soon detects partiality
In their defence, they did mention that at the time I believe and they also explained that the manufacturer had told them it wasn't supported. They re-iterated in in the recent video, so they do occasionally do it right.as was using 4 drop in batteries with built in BMS to make a 48V battery.
I think it's the fact that they often do projects as if they know what they doing. To the innocent viewer, they can appear to be experts when in reality, they are confident amateurs doing things badlyIn their defence, they did mention that at the time I believe and they also explained that the manufacturer had told them it wasn't supported. That said, they did also say the BMS stops the cells catching fire in an LFP setup. It is hard when speaking to camera and thinking out loud to get everything right, I've said some daft things on ours but usually put some text on the screen saying I'm wrong when I do.
I'm sure Battleborn would have advised against fitting 4 in series to make 48V, but they ignored that and did it in their video anyway. But, what's even worse is that they then connected 3 x 48V banks in parallel to a single fuse !! Each bank should have its own fuse and isolator, you don't get total black outs then. Some people looking to do DIY installs are likely to follow that nonsense. In their defence, they did mention that at the time I believe and they also explained that the manufacturer had told them it wasn't supported. Not so sure about that. According to graphtreon, which isn't 100 percent accurate but usually in the rough ball park, they have over 1000 patreon subscribers giving around 6k per month.Rich dad or mum some where, or lottery winner ! I do not think they earn that much from u tube,
