What sailing trousers do you wear ?

At my age, I feel a bit of an idiot wearing those cargo trousers with loads of pockets but can see the appeal.

Cheap trousers from "Go Outdoors" http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/mens/clothing/trousers-and-shorts
In recent years "ProClimate" brand @ about £20 they dry veryquickly but they don't appear on their website now, but they so have similar.
However make sure there are no protruding metal bits to scratch your gelcoat - jeans are bad as they are cold in winter and hot in summer and do not dry quickly, plus most have metal studs that can scratch gelcoat..

Always worn jeans or shorts but just bought some gear from Musto ; inspired by my neighbour at the marina!!!

Ditto completely.

Have found the Musto ones very good. It was spending too long sat in the cockpit with a soggy butt having sat on something that had been rained on or spray soaked that convinced me. Waterproof & tough where you sit / kneel, dry quickly and even quite smart.

You will look like a knob though if you go anywhere non boaty with them on.

Actually felt a knob in them when sailing...so used to wearing scruffy stuff!!!

In the summer, that is to say, for a couple of weeks, I wear cotton trousers from M&S. For the rest f the year, and you're not going to like this, I wear much the same as I wore when sailing Fireflies in the '50s, ie corduroys. These are warmer and help shield me against the knocks one gets.

I admit that I am tempted to red trousers but it's never going to happen . I do own a plum pair that I have worn but
don't seem to have the courage to put them on again.

If the rain ever stops I will be test driving a pair of Craghopper walking trousers. Quick dry, some zipped pockets
with a phone pocket. Best of all they are lined. The flesh definitely seems to diminish as one ages and the extra padding
is wonderful. They might be a bit slippery though . We shall see.

I have an ancient pair of Rohan winter bags, about 30 years old, that I used in a former life as a mountaineer. They are falling to bits, but warm and comfortable.
