Howdy all,

Still Eastbourne-based for another month but today was one of those days when Sovereign Harbour is great. We went out (dodging the rather large dredger) and had a wonderful 2-hour journey towards Beachy Head and back. On the way back we were surfing down some waves and making 8.3 knots which, with all the greenery on our hull and the Sillette leg with prop still in the water, was rather good going.

Here's a pic of our helmsman, son of the friends who came with us today. Think he might have had a small visibility problem!

Hee hee.... poor little devil can't even see over the wheel, let alone the bulkhead!.... mind you, I see that tactical 'hat over the eyes' trick saved the day.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I must admit, you are braver that us.... Morgana stayed firmly tied up today, and instead, I took the lad to the footy, while SWMBO has taken mini SWMBO to see Westlife... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Lovely pic. And remember, if you cant see me, then I cant see you ......... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Reginaldon was spot on - he was indeed steering by compass. Dad was standing behind him keeping a lookout but this was the first ever time we've sailed from Sovereign and not seen a single lobster pot marker so Dad could probably have had a cuppa.

It was actually fantastic sailing conditions - a very gentle swell (enough for us to surf down on the way back), steady wind at 15-20 kts and the sun came out. We had about five minutes of snow and were all dressed up very warmly but it was a wonderful sail. The Inshore Waters forecast suggested Moderate to Rough but is often inaccurate around Sovereign so I walked to the beach to have a look.

I'm hoping in our new river Colne home next month we will be able to go out when the seas are a bit rough as there are rivers to explore. And pubs.

Re: Sailing today (March 29th)

We went sailing again today! Out in an F6, some good waves, under engine only (had novice crew with us).

Here's a pic from earlier this year of Skipper Mr Chellers and of Ms Chellers, rather reluctant crew!

Anyone else venture out today?
