Sailing to Belgium

I know its early in the season, but we are planning to go across to Belgium (possibly Ostende) a couple of times this spring/summer and wondered if anyone had info on the red diesel situation.

I know they were "relaxed" a bit last year, but the last info I had was it was all back on from October 2014.

We would like to visit again, but don't want to run the risk of being fined for red diesel.

Just go, with no red in spare cans. Take receipts with you, (these only needed if you get up some officials nose ) i expect to arrive there 28/05

It is all about the receipt... As per agreement between Belgium and UK, if you have a receipt for the red diesel in your tank, you have nothing to worry about.

Sorry to butt in, where then does the 60/40 rule come in to the agreement. I know it's something to do with having a diesel heater but how does that affect the situation or is it unrelated?

Isnt it for 'domestic' use. You decide the mix but 60 / 40 is the usual. Domestic use includes generating electricity / heating etc

It is. "Thanks to" the European Union, we now need to distinguish what is spent on actual transportation and what is spent on charging the batteries when running the engine, which is indeed considered domestic use and is not to be taxed the same way transportation diesel is taxed.
