Well, I was expecting a hell of a mess, but it turned out the engine was in pretty good nick, but the head gasket had gone. We decided to change the piston rings and add a preheater to the air intake. Bukh parts are not cheap, but they do seem to last, so we should be ok.

Problem is, I started thinking 'might as well'. Very dangerous thing to do. Might as well change the fuel tank. Lines, filter. Don't like the look of the 12V distribution panel, might as well......

A lot of it is probably over the top, and probably just peace of mind stuff, but when we get the Azores high for 8 months next summer, we'll be right! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
