I'm probably very late to this particular party, but have only just tried a podcast app, as I had finished my audiobook. Can see this being really quite a useful and interesting way to while away the 7 hour drives between essex and cumbria I am always doing.

So ay other users out there, care to share which ones are good listens? I'm particularly interested in stories, stuff about cruising, stuff about mabs or small boats, dinghy cruising stories, med and atlantic sailing, uk and ireland coasts etc etc.

Not interested in racing or volvo or any of that stuff. Thx.

Look up 59 north - Andy schells podcast .
Single handed sailing - less about single handed sailing and more about Matt Rutherfords awesome rants about life. Production level is low and he frequently goes off on a tangent but it's my favourite podcast by far!

Also shooting the breeze podcast

Yep... another vote for Andy Schell's podcast... it's now called 'On The Wind'. Production is usually good and, if you look through the back catalogue, Andy's had some great interviewees - RKJ, Nigel Calder, Suzie Goodall, among others.

I also listen to Matt Rutherford's 'Single-handed Sailing', and would agree with Teko's comments - variable production but can be a comical listen. Also 'Sailing in the Mediterranean', with Franz, who has spent many years sailing his Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter in the Med and provides oft interesting, if rambling, insight through his regular interviews.

I used to really enjoy the Boat Radio podcasts when they were active, both for the production and for the quality of the interviews. I don't know if their back catalogue is available but, if so, they may be worth a listen.

Matt Rutherford single handed sailor is brilliant , he is as tough as hell , I listened to him everyday in the evening on my solo 22 days from Galápagos to Hiva Oa Marquesas , he gave me such a lift and kept me pushing on ... some of it is off the wall but other bits you have to admire , he is an admirable guy ...
