Sailing on TV - where is it?

Why hasn't The Vendee Globe or Ellens latest challenge been televised. If Darts are worthy of air-time, surely Sailing could have a slot.

If Mike Golding continues as he is, and Ellen stops crying, Britain will have world class sailors - we should celebrate this and give them the air-time that they deserve!

There was a brief mention of both on Grandstand at the weekend. The Ellen piece was very disappointing though since it consisted solely of video clips from her website (some of them weeks old) and library footage of icebergs taken from Kingfisher in the Vendee.

Got really excited over the Christmas break, wandering round on the Sky system and found "Open Access" channel which was showing BT Challenge each night at 11p.m., sad thing, cannot see the picture, just enough to let me know what I am missing before it changes back into a colourful mosaic, and I would be happier to pay Sky if I could see this and my news channels.

And another thing.....

I was looking forward to seeing ITV's programme on LIBS on Saturday. What a disappointment. Test of an open speedboat (?) on a flat calm lake! A couple of shots of nice looking boats but nothing about them. One presenter who thought engine size was everything. What a shame and a waste of time.

The Global Challenge programme on Open Access is actually about four years old - 2000, I think. It's good to watch, but they do give the impression that it's more recent than it is. A bit naughty...

On Adventure One right now is "The Science Of Sailing". Caught the last 10 mins. yesterday and it looked reasonably interesting. Can't get to watch it now as the kids are hogging the remote /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

More ironic was the constant reference to cars when driving the speedboats.

Probably because driving a stinkie is about as interesting as driving a car around a football pitch

Just a thought /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Lucky you, with the little I had seen I did not know the year, let alone how restricted it was.

Whinge, whinge, whinge, why when we go to the sun can we we see sailing anywhere on the box, but not in the UK?
