Sailing Nuns

Well Jimmie, you could always switch back and then become an Abbott. I don't know if you have ever seen the advertisement for "Green King Abbott Ale"? The story goes that this stuff was brewed by Green King brewery and that the local Monks and Abbotts were given a daily allowance......8 PINTS!!!

8 pints a day!!!! OK, so I've got to get my thinking head on and work out the sex bit. Maybe a mixed order......Hmmmm....

Nah. Captain on here prefers a Saturday if we are in port. Besides, loading tomorrow.

David, how are you? How's the job?

One option I'm considering is Buckfastleigh Abbey in Devon as they make a fairly potent brew but they are a silent order which may make rapid communication a bit difficult whilst sailing. And I may have to reverse my sex change in order to enter (so to speak).

Wait a minute!! Shouldn't nuns walk round in twos, one nun to make sure the other nun doesn't get none! So how are you going persuade Pauline to join you!! Hmmmmm.

Hi Jimmie - you remembered about the job situation!! Things are going very well (I hope). I am always wary when it comes to things that concern the intervention of the hand of fate....but...

If all the plans and discussions I have had come to fruition, here is what should happen. I am due to leave Cable & Wireless on the 4th March, but I have already got a verbal offer from one of my customers to go and work for them! In the meantime, I am on "garden leave" on full pay for the next 3 months (nice one!)

I was told of the redundancy (you'll remember I volunteered) on the 10th Dec and I had a final interview with the MD of my proposed new employer on the 13th Dec. I was offered the job there and then. So I meet up with them again on the 8th Jan to tie down the details and the contract.

So if all goes to plan, I end up with a tidy lump sum free of tax, full pay for 3 months and a new job on a higher salary.

All of the above plus 3 kids in senior school, means I am staying in the UK....for now.

But what about you.....emigration or religion????

Well I've been thinking deeply about it today. Perhaps I could combine the two and join the Greek Orthodox church and become a nun with a boat on one of the Greek Islands. Patmos would do very nicely. Maybe Byron could tell us if the /Greeks have nuns (so to speak)?

Well maybe with your new found conversion to religion, you should consider a missionary position somewhere? Perhaps you could give a helping hand to the underdeveloed youth of some poor country in Africa.

Though most of us of course would be sorry to see you go, some may be pleased to see the back of you.

*missionary position*

Don't start!

Hi big boy, I'm not proposing to abandon all my friends here, no way! They're all so nice. I think Africa will just be a bit too hot and all my chocolate will melt. I do'nt know if I'm so much a missionary as a searcher for self fulfilment . I did have another thought ... I have thought about starting up my own religious order so I can make the rules, how about that for an idea? Borrowed it from Henry VIII the founder of the CofE and better known fror writing Greensleeves. My nascent idea is to set up a Trappist order of nuns sailing round the world with one stop to maximise temptation. Where do you think we should stop? Brighton?

Hallelujah & hold the heading
