I'm off to Majorca at the end of July with my new partner and her two children. While I'm there I'd like to intrduce them to sailing, does anyone know if it's possible to hire a small yacht for just a day or even an afternoon?

The windsurfing school on the beach in Porto Pollensa had a few keeled dayboats for hire in the last few years I've been there. They have a 21' and a couple of around 25' (from memory) kept on moorings. They take you out to them by rib. The 21' was about £40 for half a day last summer and good family fun. It helps if you can produce your certificates but without them they seem quite happy with an "interview". I'll be in Pollensa again this August and hope they'll still be there.
