We have the opportunity to sail from Corfu to Lefkas the last two weeks in April, visiting the other northern Ionian islands en route and wonder what sort of weather we can expect.
I anticipate cool mornings and evenings but do not know how wet or windy it is likely to be. Also, will many tavernas be open?

Thanks

Lyn

I've not been there in April but I've been there in late October and saw a very different face to the area. Southerly force 6+ with lots of swell and rain for about three days. Stuck in harbour in a village not really designed for indoor living. Also a brief lightning storm a few days later - quite scary. Adequately warm though. I'm sure it's possible to have good weather but I suspect it's just more hit and miss. It should be lovely and green though.

Can be very iffy. Was cold and wet last April. There is not much life before 1 May so very little will be open. A bit like UK sailing in a bad May - but without the welcoming pub at the end of the day.

If the trip is free and you like solitude then go for it - but not worth paying (IMHO)

The weather as said, can be changeable, if your lucky, it can be great, but expect Southerlies and a shower or two.
Regarding the Tavernas in April, it rather depends on when Easter falls, Easter is the time when the Greeks party, it is a great family get together, lots of church processions, fireworks, the lot. Unfortunately I think Easter falls around the 4th April, so you will miss it, but the Tavernas will have been open and some will stay that way. Normaly the Dutch arrive towards the end of April, so they get early custom.

We were there 3 years ago from mid April until end May...April was cool but fine ,good sailing and dry weather, but it went downhill a bit in Early May,showers & windy, but still 10 million times better than the UK.
There was always at least one or two tavernas open, mainly the local ones, which we tend to use in any case. The sea was a bit nippy for swimming to begin with but warmed up quickly.

Easter Sunday this year in Greece is 4 April,so everything will open about then.
