And also remember:

"It is the Zig zagging bit that is the problem for the Mobo to anticipate.
The mobo tends to carry on his collision course because he expects sooner or latter there could be a zig (or a zag ) due, so there is no point in altering course until closer.

What is the difficult bit from the mobos point of view is ascertaining which Zigs are natural ones and which Zigs are collision avoidance ones caused by the mobos selfishness.
(same applies with the zags)

As mobos dont zig or zag it would be prudent for yachts to zig and zag away first because they know exactly where the mobo is going".

Nope, it is in my "Favourites" and I think it is my all time favourite post - you should be honoured! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As much as I enjoy your posts and Flamming's idiosyncrasies , there appears to be some who find them irritating.

I feel uncomfortable continuing on this thread because of the 7 out of 25 posters who are not enjoying the banter.

May I propose a sensible way forward

Flaming is an Instructor and should really know what he is doing.

I am just a typical mobo owner and I know the capabilities and manoeuvring restrictions of my craft.

It is of great concern to me that Flaming is in effect teaching students to sail into my path causing a collision.

Between us lets draft a question to post in the lounge where there are equal mobos/sailors to see if we can agree

The current situation where sailing boats are ramming me cant be right ( I was actually hit last year on my Port side).
