You will I am sure enjoy the first 5 minutes or so of Country Tracks last Sunday on iPlayer about sailing on board Boadicea, an early Essex fishing smack on a beautiful sunny day. Followed by Maldon Mud Race!...

Also I believe there will be hitherto unseen footage of Alec Rose's Lively Lady on Thursday's South Today BBC1 6.30pm (subject to change).

I posted this on YM but CB is probably more appropriate...

Enjoy "Fish & Ships". Excelsior is still the only large English sailing smack equipped to trawl in the traditional manner. Using a fifty foot beam trawl on a sailing boat is extremely dangerous! This shot was taken at the time with the trawl beam stowed along the port side in the traditional manner. The spray around the shrouds is coming from the for'ard end of the beam. OF

Thanks for those. Tom Cunliffe's series on Ships that Built Britain is being repeated on BBC4 at the moment as you probably know. There was a good one on a large fishing lugger last night.
