I have almost come to the end of my quest for a under 8 meter sailing boat here in Galicia just one more to see theSupermistral designed by Amel. Which circumnavigated with a hardySpanish sailor.so quite adequate for sculling around the rias. The other boats ranging from a very nice boat except the starboard rigging was attached to a chai plate busily eating through a bulkhead further investigation showed various of the same class with the same problem. The next in Ribadeo looked great on internet but on being on board the accomodation was very crunched up with too big a cockpit but the real bummer wasthe owner an intelligent man in love with gadgets and modifications that only knew how they worked. and the engine was very difficult to get to.Both theses boats were offered at 10,000 euros. The next was much cheaper at 5000euros but it’s condition wasboarderline project although the engine started. It was badly kept and the fuel tank was totally inaccessible .At this point I have to declare I am not an engine tinkerer althoughIwould like to be fix engines.Thelast boat I was very keen on lying in the ria de Vigolots of vids on YouTube showing a sister ship sailing from France to the Canaries.Again the engine became the stumbling block with the owner getting out a can of easy start to start the engine. In many ways a perfect boat forthe rias.Designedby Mr Benetaue backin the 1960 it looked tough and had a traditional long keel but the engine was such anenourmous chunk of motor a sole26hp it also carried an outboard which hinted at a possible unreliable main engine. This boat is still under consideration. The was called Barauder.Of course at any moment an add for a boat can appear so there is hope.
