Sailing boat up the River Ouse to York?

Hi All! Because...reasons, we may need to move up to York. We own a 38ft sailing ketch. Masts clear about 12m. Keel draws about 5'6" ish. Beam about 10ft. Plenty of power. Wooden.

Can we, assuming slow, steady and very experienced progress, make our way to York without having to demast? Or at least the marina south of York. Or do we draw too much anyway to make it possible?

Notes: We are extremely experienced East Coast sailors, so mud berths and lying over to wait for tides holds no fear. Nor do fast entrances etc. It's only the depth and clearance that I can't quite work out and I can't find a pilot!

I believe that all bridges up to York Marina are swing, or more than 12m clearance. Anyone able to help out on details please?

I would suggest a call to the marina in York might be a good place to start. They'd know how to arrive by river.

Looking at the pictures of the marina, I didn't see any boats with a mast, which make me suspect it's not an easy place to get to with sails.

The Canals and Rivers Trust seem to believe the maximum height is below 20 feet for the river.

Many years (decades) ago, family took a 31 foot yacht to Naburn (marina south of York) for over winter.
No problem with air draft. In spring got tge heads up from marina if we wanted to leave to go before water levels dropped - draft was 4'6".
Check water levels with marina.

The Boating assn do a small booklet that covers up to York from Trent Falls. This contains all the air drafts and contact details, along with charts and pilotage notes. See Link below.

When I did this I went into Goole and dropped the mast then motored up to York. There is a swing bridge where the railway crosses the Ouse at Cawood so it is possible to get up to Naburn with a mast up. You have to book the swing. You ride the tide up really fast. More of an issue getting back down. I had to stop on Selby as by the time the water gets up to Naburn it’s on its way out downstream. There is a very strong run across the Selby entrance if you go in there.

You'll be able to lock in at Naburn onto the non tidal section of the Ouse, then get as far as Acaster or Naburn where there are visitor's berths. Beyond that there is a bridge just upstream of Naburn known locally as Fisherman's Bridge due to the artwork on it, that will limit your progress.
