I can remember reading that only Volvo paint should be used on Volvo legs but they would say only Volvo oil etc as well.
Would an antifoul like International Micron Extra get me legless. I believe Micron is a biocide with copper content.

No copper antifoul on saildrive legs - aliminium & copper are not best friends.

As for using only Volvo antifoul - you take it for what it's worth. Have been using Awl Grip for 2 years now - no problems to report.

Use Internationals Trilux. It's the best value for money and works really well - not too much scraping next season and the leg gets well protected.
If you have bare metal on the legs, prepare and coat these with a red oxide or etch primer (preferred) first; the antifoul is not water tight and the leg will corrode in these places.
Have a good season.

Any other questions please ask.

Keep copper based antifoul well clear of leg. Trilux is ideal.. coat all of leg and also the rubber gaiter this ensures that any copper antifoul used on hull is kept well clear of leg. I have also used a Plastimo spray on that is PTFE based and this works very well. be careful when appliying that over the years the water inlet holes have not diminished in size due to paint build up as thias will lead to overheat problems.

I have used International's VC Prop-O-Dev for the past two season. I comes in an Aerosol Can. Lightly wet sand the leg first then apply three coats sprayed from 4-6 inches distance. You only need to allow 30 minutes between coats. I mask the hull off with newspaper and masking tape but only immediately around the leg. Remember to remove or mask off the anode.

One can of Prop-O-Dev lasts me two seasons.

At the end of the season the Saildrive came out as clean as a whistle.
