What's the best adhesive/method people have found for gluing the flexible fairing for a Volvo Penta saildrive?

I judiciously cleaned, degreased and glued last season with impact adhesive (Evostick I think) and applied Sikaflex around the edges. Came off during the season. Engineer who did some work on the saildrive later in the season replaced it and it looked great. Came off.

Any sure-fire suggestions? I'm sure there are lots of opinions... ;)

I used the 2 part stuff provided by the local Volvo shop.

I cut the old adhesive back to gelcoat using the back of a wallpaper knife, followed by a wire brush on a drill, then rinse with some form of detergent and finally acetone.

Thanks - what about preparing the fairing itself. A friend's just bought a new one, and we're not sure the greasy surface of the fairing - probably still got release agent on it - is going to take the adhesive. Or does the2-part Volvo stuff deal with that?

I think you’ll find that 2pt Hypalon Glue (used to repair Hypalon Dingy ) is recommended.
You need to thoroughly abrade both the Hull and Fairing.

I used the VP recommended Hypalon 2 pack glue, its stay on well attached for 2 years now.
I've used VP (Bostick) 2 pt glue and high impact one part. Abrading both surfaces and degreasing is essential AND chocking a block to the repair to ensure pressure whilst curing.

So I think I'm going to go for the Hypalon, with meticulous degreasing and abrading, and chocking.

Thanks all!

Tek 7. Minimal prep, just a quick surface roughen with sandpaper and wipe down so its clean.

I used a small roller (the type for laying up grp) to push out any air bubbles. Its still attached a couple of years later.
