Sailcloth weight for mainsail

I am still searching for red sailcloth for my new main, especially now as I have found a spare (red) Genoa and a fairly new (red) jib
We thus seem to have a few years worth of red sails except for the main.
I describe the colour as red though I was 'told off' by one forumite who said that red is correctly referred to as tan ( a sailmaker says that tan is often much browner and I should stick to calling it red!)
I propose to contact sailcloth suppliers to see what cloths and weights they do in red. choice is slightly restricted so I would like advice on the acceptable range of weights (oz/square yard)
for the main of my elderly 10m Neptunian cruiser for normal cruising use in the med.

When comparing quotes from different suppliers (and advice on here), just beware that:

'The unit of weight in the United States is ounces per "sailmaker's yard," which is 36" by 28.5". The British use ounces per square yard, and Continental Europe uses grams per square meter. Thus 1 oz. American equals 1.26 oz. British and 42.8 grams per square meter.'

The widely acknowledged 'bible' of sailmaking, "The sailmaker's apprentice" by Emiliano Marino, recommends 7oz (US measure, see above post) all-purpose dacron cut with the warp vertical for your size of boat and use.

PS: Is 'tanbark' the colour you want (google images...)? If so it's avaiable in a variety of weights.
