The Sailaway multiplayer SimGame has now attracted nearly 11000 players. The map included in the game is very basic. It is possible to make an NMEA feed of the data from your boat to the OpenCPN navigation program. The boat is then shown moving on the chart, plus other information like speed, depth, wind. This can be displayed on the OpenCPN dashboard.

Windows OS
Program which provides the NMEA feed:
expilu/sailaway-api-to-nmea

Using this code as the template I have written a plugin for OpenCPN,. This feeds the NMEA data without requiring any external program. There is an installer for both Windows and Apple (not iOS).

Windows / MacOS (Not iOS)
Rasbats/SailawayNMEA_pi

More information is available here:
SailawayNMEA [OpenCPN Manuals]

A sort of manual and a cheat sheet for Sailaway are available using the 'github.com' link or the files attached.

Feedback
The SailawayNMEA plugin is a beta release. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to add an option to the 'SailawayNMEA' plugin which converts an OpenCPN GPX file to the 'Sailaway' format. This is uploaded and appears as a route for your boat to follow. The format shown on the 'Sailaway.World' website is not working for me.

If someone has done this I would be grateful if they could post the file that they used.

Many thanks.

SailawayNMEA_pi v0.2 has now been published for Windows and MacOS.

https://github.com/Rasbats/SailawayN...eases/tag/v0.2

There is now a menu option to create a waypoints file from an OpenCPN gpx file. This file can be uploaded to Sailaway ('Hamburger','Options','Account','Go to webpage'). It will then appear in your library of routes.

TODO Update manual to show menu.
