Well folks, in an unexpected turn of events this weekend after months of 'diligent research', my lovely wife advised me that every boat we'd looked at failed to meet the standards she expected and demanded. Well, sez I, "that's the best of what's available at our budget', and so she advised me to spend more. I was pleasantly surprised to find out what an extra 30% did to quality of the boats now available for what I'm calling "the budget". This is now known as "wife maths" ...
I also have experienced at first hand what happens when a tired and unhappy wife views a boat that ticks all the boxes she thought she's never expecting to achieve. "Buy this one". Long story short, we did, subject to the usuals.
It's a Sealine SC42. Marmite I think, but for us as a mobile boaty apartment it's a winner.
In achieving the wifely requirements I'm compromised on some other things, especially the outdrives
but otherwise I'm hopeful we've got the right boat for our needs. Not that anyone needs a leisure boat.
