Hi All,

I've been following some threads with wide-eyes regarding their sail orders from sailmakers and most notabley the prices!!!

I'm recently over from the 'stinky' side of the pond to pulling 'rags n sticks' around and have to admit i've been taken a little by surprise at the cost of Sails.
(I'm guessing there isn't a Specsavers equivalent where you buy one Sail and get one free. :D )

As a matter of interest, what kind of ballpark figure would I expect to pay for a Hank-on Genoa and part-battoned Mainsail for a Snapdragon 23??

I'm certainly not in the market for any replacement sails at the mo but would be handy to know the general kind of budget to have in mind.

Thanks all,

Nick

I bought a mainsail from 'Hong Kong Sailmakers' for my 27 footer about three years ago - it cost £325 IIRC. Genoa would have been about twice as much (twice as big), but your boat is a wee bit smaller. Half the price of the bigger brands and in general a well made and nicely cut sail. The Uk rep was much easier to dear with than the posher sailmakers too, many of whom wouldn't even return my call.

That's really interesting. Thanks.
That's certainly alot less than the figures i've read on other threads. But since they're bigger boats, no doubt the sails are much bigger too. What a Sherlock I am. :)

That doesn't sound like a bad price at all. Certainly one to consider when the time comes.
