sail numbers ??

Various in the past. However if the enquiry is about current numbers and the yacht is British, RYA should be contacted.

If your sail number ends with an R then it is issued by the RORC. If it ends in a T or other then it is most likely the RYA.

Not sure if the system is the same there, but here in Oz the yacht clubs issue sail numbers with a registered letter to identify the club, so a London based club might be listed as # # # LN,

On my old sails the number ended with a Y any ideas?

Letters ending in Y are from the Clyde. I think your yacht will be listed by the CYCA.

The letter 'C' denotes sail numbers issued to yachts by the Clyde Yacht Clubs' Association. I believe there are seven different organisation within the UK which can issue sail numbers. Full listing is on the RYA web-site, although they don't themselves issue all the sail numbers.
