I have a set of sails for the Cormoran 5m of mine ... but they are 2nd hand and came without battens. I searched online for suitable and WOW are they kidding ... 100 quid to replace
?
Local garden shop .... bag of bamboo plant sticks ... roll of gaffer tape ... jobs done.
Just taped together 3 sticks for each batten ... wrapped tape over ends so they would not chafe ... perfect.
Cost ? 3 euros
The boat is not exactly the best sailboat anyway ... so no need to be daft with it. Its leeway near matches its fwd movement ...
Twin steel drop plates .. no ballast.
