\'Sahara\' film, and Huntons

Saw the piece in one of the mags about Huntons involvement in Sahara film , and how they actively aided with jet drives in shallow water, quick build, onsite aid etc.

Watching the film at the moment. Gutted! I'm a huge Hunton fan, but it looks crap in those matt grey colours, which won't do much for their sales, and blowing the thing to bits when they could have given it to me!? OK, I know there were two of them for stunt purposes, but even so, I could have had one painted a decent colour

The colour scheme matches the film. I know most films aren't a patch on the original book but in the words of Clive Cussler "I don't know whose book they used for that film but it certainly wasn't mine!"

I was gutted too, but it did make me think. Who the hell would take a boat like that up a river like that? Artistic licence I guess???

The new mission impossible III is going to have a Chris Craft in, I hope they don't blow that up too!!!

Re: \'Sahara\' film, and Huntons

Just been visting Hamble Point Marina last week and Inwards have one of them for sale from Paramount Pictures at offers over £130k, looks fairly ok and tidy on the outside but tatty inside, was apparently under offer. Colours actually look quite cool in real life but brown seats look naff though.

Saw loads of stuff arriving for boat show before moving up to the show marina, even a Nordhavn that arrived trans Atlantic on her own bottom.

My first time to Southampton waters and flip me its a busy old place! up our way it would take a month to see that many boat movements you guys get in a day. Our 45'er looked a bit small compared to some stuff coming and going.

Have to say all the trades around the marina were very busy and dealers seem quite busy to. One sold three £200k + boats in the four days we were there and I know cus saw the office boy stick sold signs on them. Would have thought people would wait till the boat show in a week's time before buying anything, still suppose they knew what they wanted.

Re: \'Sahara\' film, and Huntons

Three boats used in total (according to the invoices!). One was blown up (full spec not a make up) and two left. One has been used for promotional work the other is for sale at the Hamble.

So far it has not shifted despite being on Ebay several times. Main Issue is that this film was huge in the US but flopped over here and in the International market and only took $22m. If the boat was shipped to the US then it might get the price, at the moment no one wants it.

Gross colours but picked to blend with the scenary on location in Africa.

By the way the boat for sale is owned by the production company not Paramount (I Believe).

Brendan, i don't have a clue what film you are talking about, but it sound interesting, and maybe one i should go out and rent.

But why not forget the Touarag and go and buy the boat at the Hamble! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You know it makes sence, you obviously like them! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The film is great fun. But no way am I going to buy a Hunton with those colour schemes. The hull was crap, the leather seats even worse
