They ruined my boat show by accosting me - a mere lad in the prime of his life - and now they haven't contacted me with the promised quote.
Not only that but Dear Heart has commandeered the diary.

I had a good look at their policy on their web site and rejected it as laughable. No wonder they are still making a profit.

I'm delighted with Pantaenius - its just that the women from Saga leapt out in front of me and I thought I was going to have to defend my honour and all they wanted to do was flog me a wrinkly and crinkly policy - it buggered my equilibrium for the rest of the day.

That\'s nothing

The nice lady on the stand selling medical beds, the type that support you and keep your back straight etc. shouted across a crowd at me saying I looked like I needed one, everyone turned to look at me. Just because I was using my walking stick.

Talk about ruining your day, how self concious should I be....

I nearly went balistic but chose to ignore her and walk off.

How about some more ideas to confound salespeople?

I liked saying to those who wanted to do personal loans for me that it was so kind of them as there were 3 county court judgements outstanding and their loan would help to clear them.

Mrs Mate came up with the all time unstoppable when the Pru called and tried to sell her life insurance, she got this poor nerd to give all the spiel made all the right noises and then asked if being treated for breast cancer would have any bearing? He couldn't get out of the house fast enough.

Any more suggestions?

I once let a telesales oik spend 20 mins telling me how good his conservatories were before informing him that I lived in a first-floor flat!

When my daughter was about three, she loved talking on the phone. When some sales nerd called, I just said, "Hang on a minute, please". then (with hand over mouthpiece), "Caroline, someone on the phone to speak to you", handing her the phone. Sometimes the call went on for about 10 minutes!

Backfired on me a bit though. She's 19 now and STILL won't get off the bl**dy phone!
