As someone else is asking where the other boats of his type are i thought i might.

My boat is a saga 34 (similar to a saltram saga) it was made by charles ward in 1975. She is a flush decked double ender
Charles ward is still in business today and i have spoken to him a couple of times and he says that every now and then someone will contact him about these boats.
He said he made 8 but has no idea where the others are.
I think there might be one in Australia be cause i found someone asking about one who lives in oz
So if anyone might know of any could you please let me know.

Cheers Rob

I have a Saltram 31 built by Skentelbury. HERE Fantastic boat Don't seem to be any other 31 ft around.
There are a few 40 ft Sagas in the Netherlands.

They're certainly great sea boats. Don't have a Saga/Saltram myself but did do my boatbuilding apprenticeship with Alan Pape (designer) and am related to the Skentelberys who built many of them in Plymouth.

Happen to be parked next door to one right now - she's a well proven example having clocked up a fair few miles and has been for sale for a while. I really can't believe she hasn't sold as I think she's incredibly reasonably priced - inventory basic but she'd take you anywhere you'd want to go and if you did want all bells and whistles the price would allow for a bit of wild spending!
See www.havsula.co.uk if you're interested.

It amuses me to read the comments of various people on YBW who talk of going off sailing in five, ten, fifteen years time - when they've got the money to do it. Many of them could probably afford to buy a boat like Havsula and go now rather than dream of ifs and maybes in the future.

PS We have absolutely no financial interest in seeing this boat sold - it just seems a shame that someone hasn't snapped her up.

Mine is a 34 and was molded by Charles ward the 36 was molded by Skentelberys but they have the same waterline lenght?

At the time i was buying mine i saw havsula for sale but it was a bit out of my price range.
Now i have bought mine and got it back to the uk and all the other costs i wouldnt of been far off his price and its a cleaner boat

I think what is putting people off that one is the engine
10hp for a 36ft 10t boat seems small

I saw one being re-fitted at Jalsea Marine near Northwich in the late 90's. It had been re-enforced for sailing Arctic/Antarctic waters and had massive timber sections bonded in around the stern area of the hull. Apart from that it was built like a battleship. I really liked the lines and badly wanted to buy it but did not have the wherewithall! Not sure what that one was called.
