Safety on the Blackwater: Public meeting

I suspect that the Romford navy will be able to outgun any opposition, claiming their freedom. It's some years since we had a boat on the Blackwater, and there were occasions when I borrowed a friend's Topper from Osea Island. I have seldom been so scared in my life, though in those days it was mainly waterskiers. I don't know how the dinghy clubs manage.

The Romford Navy don't give a toss about anyone else. Until there is effective catching and fining of the offenders they will just carry on as before. The River Bailiff can only do so much. The Police would rather catch motorist because it is easier. Expect words but not action.

I put a freedom of info request in about 2 years ago seeking to draw some attention to the unsafe and bawdy PWC crowd, having had an altercation with a "square tattooed 'git'" only to be told that no info was available. Soon after that the marine side of things was disbanded .:disgust:

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

On the Crouch we hail the Harbourmaster's launch Watchful. Nice to see their blue light flashing as they chase the jetskis. However, the Romford Navy also own powerboats and their wash is frightful when they speed past in convoy. They may be out of the 8 knot limit but some powerboats display no consideration.
