I need to replace a shattered side window on my boat, it is an irregular shape and not very small. Does anyone here know of a source for such? It needs to be EN12150 safety glass, I will need to check the thickness and the overall dimensions - it is one of the 'shark fin' panes on my Azimut. 10 weeks plus shipping time from Italy... there must be a UK option - it's a 2D piece, albeit with reflective film added.
Thanks in advance for any leads as to possible suppliers.
Phil.

Agreed with Jeremy. Make up a template, and any glass supplier should be able to cut you a replacement. All the glass on my Azi is flat I believe, so should not be too difficult.

this is sounding positive, was hoping that 'boat glass' wasn't something too special! It'll hinge on whether it truly is 2D, I'm pretty sure it is.

and Rafiki; are there a few of us Azimut owners on here? I'm brand new to Azimuts, and am bound to have a few daft questions as I get to grips with the what, where, how and whys :)

For toughened glass I tend to always use abc glass processing in Portsmouth, they have an in house toughening plant, nearly all surrounding glass suppliers use them. A template delivered normally turned round in 2 weeks.
Cheers Nick

After the glass is cut and it's sent away for tempering/ toughening, pay the extra few quid to have it heal soaked to minimise the chances of spontaneous shattering

Yep, there are a few of us on here. I get a lot of help and info from Spare Thyme, he has delved deeply into his Azi. Please share a big more info and pics on yours

ABC Glass were very prompt to reply... alas though with a sorry but we can't do that! Shame, their web pages had me thinking that these would be the guys to do it. Might yet be a 12week+ saga from Italy. But i've not given up just yet - it's only glass! Ok, tempered, silvered, edged and an awkward shape... :)

There is toughened glass in new houses on the ground floor French windows and patio doors. Most glaziers should be able to supply. Another option is to call Trend Marine. They supply much of the OE glass for U.K. Boatbuilders. A quick google should find the tel number. They are over in Norfolk, near Cromer.

http://www.trendmarine.com/ nice tip Rafiki, have just looked at what they do and they look suitably capable - will email them and report back with an update. thanks. P

it's one of those 'shark fin' shaped panes on an Azimut, have yet to properly measure it, but it's got to be around 2 to 2.5M long I'd say.
Side window, not windscreen Phil?

I don't think it would be "load" bearing, but certainly worth taking a pic and forwarding to Trend. The OE is possibly Nemo?

yes, side window, Trend have replied to my email of yesterday to say they'll be back to me with an answer asap - so good lead Rafiki, thanks.
