Hi,

We're going to Denmark this summer as part of the Tall Ships Races, and I'm having terrible trouble getting any sense out of the Danish Coastguard about something called 'SafeSeaNet', which they are insisting we log into 24 hours before we get to Denmark and use to log crew lists, every item of stores we have onboard including the tins of beans, as well as all the rubbish.

They claim that this is something that every boat entering any European port now has to do (including 35 foot yachts because I did ask).

Has anyone every heard of this system before? There's no information online and none of the pilot books mention it.

I can understand them getting freaked by the whole tall ships fleet turning up and just having rule for all the boats irrespective of size, but they are saying we must do it for every Danish port we stop at whilst we cruise around for the month before the race. As a small vessel, registered in the UK as a pleasure vessel, can they really be trying to lump us into a system designed for cruise ships and supertankers?

Just had a quick look and I think they are getting a little confused over your class of ship, below is a little part of the EU directive
All ships of 300 gross tonnes and upwards are covered, whether or not they carry dangerous goods, except for:

warships;

fishing vessels, traditional ships and recreational craft less than 45 metres in length;

Not sure if this helps
