I am trying to make sense of the layout of domestic freshwater pipes in a Sadler 34 with little success. I no longer have enough length of pipe to remake leaking joints so some new pipe runs are looking necessary.

There is a collection of joints under the galley sink but I cannot work out where the pipe runs from the pressure pump (just forward of the chart table) to the cold water supply at the sink and to the calorifier (in the port side cockpit locker) Can anyone clarify?

I believe that a pipe coming under the sink from the direction of the bow and connected to calorifier and sink is from the pressure pump but am far from convinced....

There is another mystery pipe that runs aft past the chart table seat before disappearing into the depths. Any ideas?

The hidden runs of pipe are ancient and rigid and look a nightmare to remove - has anyone done this?

I am normally fairly practical but this one has me stumped!

Thanks!

I don't know the Sadler, but I have enough trouble trying to understand the system on my own boat. When a leak developed, I found that it was due to hardening of the pipes at the hot water manifold, but only for the first few inches. Rather than replace the lot, I just replaced a foot or two of each, with in-line connectors.

try going on the sadler starlight site and ask there. Two very knowledgable chaps, Vyv Cox and John Moncrief will no doubt have done this before.

The mystery pipe running aft from the pump disappears into the depths and runs through a conduit under the floor and exits under the sink through the pipe which looks as though it is heading toward the bow
The pipes from the calorifier come through to a small cupboard at your feet in the galley next to the coolbox and continue round under the cooker , into the space under the waste bin next to the sink and finally into the space under the sink.
The water pipes to the heads go through a conduit that you will find in the space under the waste bin
I replaced the water tube from the water pump to the cold water tap last year. It wasn’t easy but was doable. The most difficult bit for me was getting the old pipe out but a combination of hot soapy water down the conduit near the pump and forceful tugging worked. I had attached a mouse string to the old pipe before I pulled it through and this helped pull the new one through when pushed in from under the sink and pulled from the pump end. The major sticking part is the right angled turn made by the conduit just after it leaves the undersink area
The Sadler forum has a wealth of information so have a look on that if you haven’t already. There is also a Sadler group on Facebook which is well worth joining.
Hope the helps
