Nice to see Lazy Days in one of your pics. Currently in one of our sheds with half the side cut out of it!!

So going back to that awful programme on ch4 re sailing around the coast, the current owners said on the programme she was a wreck & had to be totally rebuilt (& showed photo's of rebuild). Is this a case of rebuilding & rebuilding again? I knew the boat well when Tony McGrail had her in the 90's. She had been ferro sheathed to about 6" above waterline & was very rotten. Tony rebuilt her but left the sheathing on. This saved her from sinking in floods when she hit the raised area below Eton Bridge/above Romney weir. Seems to have been forever being rebuilt!

See our website http://southwoldboatyard.co.uk/2018/10/08/lazy-days/

Not sure on exact details as I tend to just make the electrical things happen and run our CNC cutting machine.

Lazy Days had 250k ? spent on it on the Thames prior to 2015 Dunkirk return!!

I looked at her to buy in the early 90's,she was at the Timsway yard,12k from memory,as she had failed a survey big time as the ferro cement hull had encapsulated the rot that was already present and it had just kept spreading.

Re: Saddos XMAS Quiz.Bridges,Marinas, Photobucket stuff

Lots of people looked at her when she was at Tims. I remember everybody saying she was too far gone, but Tony McGrail took her on. He had his own slipway in his garden in the Old Windsor weirstream. He angle grinded off a section of the ferro cement and I remember him putting it on two railway sleeps and challenging us to break it with a sledgehammer. It was thin but incredibly strong. The boat was restored & extensively used, at one Kingston RNLI the paintings on the transom of two (clothed) girls created a lot of interest, and a select few were allowed to see the (unclothed) girl painted in the heads (I can't remember whether I did or just heard about it from those that did). Tony's sisters boyfriend then had Lazy Days in the Medway & used to post here. Later Tony bought with his sister the large steel ADLS which in recent years has been permanently moored just below Temple Island on the Bucks side at Henley.
