Sad news

I am in full agreement that we need to host ECF who's who elsewhere as soon as possible.
I am now trying to re-establish access to some web hosting space that is part of my broadband account.
Once I have sorted that I will get the forum admin to amend the links in the locked thread to that host and than I can up-date as required.

If it's a hassle sorting out some web space, I am happy to put it somewhere on the CTTE web site with a link accessible to all provided everyone thinks it appropriate. But I am not trying to take it over.

Thanks for that.
I will see if I can get this sorted over that next few days as it would be the easyest way for me to manage the list.
If I can't sort it I will take you up on your kind offer.

I think a fairly good cross-section of society is represented on the ECF.
So, turning up the odd weirdo or perv is inevitable. :(

Sadly true, but I'm sure you know what I mean. It's awful regardless, but it certainly hits home when it's someone that you've 'chatted' very normal boat stuff with on here.

Very sad, most cases of abuse occur because of long term abuse in childhood, that of course becomes self replicating. What he did is appalling but sad news for him, his family and his victims.

I don't think that's any excuse - everyone knows it's wrong. I'd imagine his fellow convicts will make his time in jail interesting, to say the least.

I'm afraid you're reading that into my comments. I think the thread title is spot on, the story is infused with sadness for all concerned, whilst we're all rightly angry at the harm done to young lives. Whatever happened to him in his youth is not an excuse but just an earlier chapter in the catalogue of sadness. It is possible as some have said to be angry at the crime committed whilst having compassion for the man himself.
