The story so far: the block on my sabb 10 gg was cracked, engine out & block replaced with a secondhand one complete with crank & bearings (the secondhand one had been sitting around for years) so no need to replace as the bearings were sound, put all components back, tightened up & fired up. Ran the boat on moorings for over an hour & took her out for ten minutes everything seemed fine. Big day tuesday going out for the day, twenty minutes into the trip a high pitched squeal & the engine promptly stopped. Back on moorings (another story) the engine turns over but with a squeak so i am assuming that the engine is not seized. Whipped the head off, plenty of water where water is supposed to be but this is as far as i have got, any help gratefully accepted.
All the terry takeovers in the harbour say "throw it away & buy a new one" but i've spent many hours on this & won't be beaten, plus i love the thump thump ..........

A few years ago I started using my TR7 that sat around not moving when we built the house, after 400 mile it ground to a halt, ran a big end out, When it had stopped last that cylinder was on compression, so the oil film had been pushed out, crank rusted in a thin strip which wore away the white metal bearing face.
If your replacement engine had sat around have you the same problem?
If you get desperate I've a 8 HP with 10 hours running since a rebuild.
