Hi, Iv'e got an old sabb 2h manual start engine in my little workboat. im wondering if anyone can point me towards a suitable alternator for this and whether its an easy retro fit. have considered sourcing a starter but being manual start deters thieves. having an alternator would mean being able to fit an electric bilge pump and some lights.

any advice and possibly pics of an installed alternator would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

If anyone has any 2h spare parts I'm looking for a cylinder head. The factory are very helpful and will sell me a new one. But I cannot afford it.

I have been scouring the internet for a new cylinder head. I just missed a lifeboat being sold almost for scrap . it happened to have a Sabb engine in it. got me thinking about finding a scrap boat with a Sabb enine inside it.
Are there any good boat/ engine breakers anyone can recommend?

Hello Anthony,
I do belive it was you bought it from Richard. If you wanted to sell I am keen. I am in the process of buying a used cylinder head from germany so if you do we need to be quick.
I see you have been asking appropriate questiones in other threads. I gather you have the book. I assume you know Sleeman and Hawkins ? I can add that until about 1978 the threads used were mostly UNC although there are a few metric sized parts mixed in. After around 1979 the bulk of the threads become metric.

Could have sold it 10x over. As soon as I put on my drying winter mooring I had 3 offers while working on it. Really torn as to weather it's worth fitting a starter. On warmer days it's easy to start by hand so the summer should be a breeze. But on those colder days when I'm feeling lazy it might be nice. There's no provision for an alternator so would be reliant on a solar panel of wind generator.
