S34 outdrives

I had a look over a 2000 model S34 today and whilst mostly she looked ok until I checked over the legs.
Is it normal for them to have some play side to side and up and down? I don't seem to have this on my B3 drive.
Also are the screen rubber seals still available as these were split and perished?

Rubber seals available from Trent Marine. Also Seabridge Marine specialises in Sealine spares. Also there is an excellent Sealine forum.
S34 is an excellent boat and I haven't heard of any problems in my decade forum worrying.

Can't comment on outdrive play. There are screws each side of the outdrive "hood" which can work loose.

Most outdrives that have seen a bit of use will have a certain amount of play and movement.
Really old stuff could have an alarming amount of movement if you pull it up and down and from side to side.It does not affect the performance in the least and is not worth worrying about.
Might be worth thinking about replacing the various plastic and rubber bushes next time you are out of the water but nothing terrible will happen merely because of a bit of play.
The only bushes that you really need to keep an eye on are the steering bushes, if they wear they can allow water into the boat.Highly unlikely to be more than a dribble,which can usually be sorted with a few pumps with the grease gun.

Sideways movement is due to worn hood bushes , hood post and internal link pins . Always have an engine and drive survey when buying. You more than recover the charge in repairs required on most inspections .
