S Horizon GX2100 - Tech Assistance

No, it's saying that the black is both the negative side of the power supply and, optionally, the negative side of the NMEA. Apparently the VHF works the same way although it's not documented. This is why your kit managed to communicate despite you forgetting that a circuit requires two wires.

Pete

Aha you were so right!!

The key to getting it to work with my Stowe databox was the black!

So I now understand what 3 of the wires are!

Nmea + Green
Power + Red
Signal and power 0v Black

So 2 other wires that I don't know what they do! But who cares!

Just the ais and dsc to go!

GX2100

AIS output +ve [38400 baud] - Brown
DSC output +ve [4800 baud] - Gray
NMEA input +ve [4800 baud] - Blue

Data common -ve - Green

Seeemples!

The cable core picture posted earlier is confusing in the designations given to the cores. A better picture of the cores seems to be in this document:-

http://www.mesltd.co.uk/files/gps105man.pdf

Not wanting to sound obsessive or anything but i don't think that doc has the right wires or colours! Unfortunately my gps is now installed in the boat so no to hand but for a start i think there are only 5 wires!!

As I said before, great product, **** documentation!
