As for knowing nothing about boating. Some years back we used to post amusing stories about trips, a tradition which has passed. I've been around long enough to see every type of request, and in the early years when few here, used to answer many of them. As time went on, new and enthusiastic newcomers took over, many with niche areas of experience, and I bow to that experience, and let them get on with answering questions, and I answer now those that interest me, and that I haven't seen before on the whole. However, here is one of my old more boaty threads.

Maybe Izzy did the same as me. I selected Wales from the country list but then it would not let me input Swansea so I ended up with umpteen pages listing all the training establishments in Wales. It would have been easier to use if it had been obvious that selecting the country or the town were exclusive of each other!

Not a great fan of the RYA website I'm afraid. I cant find any mention of Julie Proudfoots award on there either.

There are? Not seen that on the ones at which I look. Still, there are hundreds of websites, you can even find some that describe boaters as idle parasites who should be taxed out of existence. Perhaps these are the ones to which the poster refers?
