If there are, i cant find any.
Was fancying the coastal skipper...
Any comments or pre course courses I should know about... ??
Any advice on schools etc...
All comments welcome please....

You have 2 options, either
1. get an instructor to come to you
or
2.go and do the course on a schools boat from their base.

advantages/ dis advantages.

1, its on your boat and in waters you know.

2. Unknown boat and waters, so a bigger learning curve.

from RYA WEB SITE.

Hi, I can't recommend Mendez training highly enough, excellent tuition whilst being very enjoyable, very nice people, I belive they have their own boat on the hamble, good location to treat it as a bit of a break awell,

Have you tried Jersey Sailing. I'm not sure if they still do RYA courses but I did a Dayskipper tidal sail course a few years back with Peter Colback which I seem to recall was organised through Will Carnegie's company.

I have not Keith, No
My only sourceof informationmi have is the RYA website... If its not listed there.....
According to rya... Nearest is south coastof england.....
Its telling porkies me thinks....

There's not much in the way of proper schools, few doing powerboat courses and dinghy courses.

Steve Pearl does coastal skipper, yacht master etc. and there's a couple others. I can introduce you to a few people next time you're over.

Own boat tuition is better and cheaper

I did my Powerboat 2 with Jersey Sea School.
Looked it up on Google and they may have changed to Jersey Sea Sports Centre.
Although the website does look a bit banana boat and PWC based it does indicate that it does what you need.
When living in France I needed a Boat Licence and I knew that if I went with a French school I would fail as I dont speak French.
So I went to Jersey and did my Powerboat 2 and CEVINI.

Lots f places to do powerboat 1,2 etc. its the larger 5 day courses... Including jersey sea school. It seams there is a glut in companies doing the full range of courses...
I did my powerboat tickets in guernsey, with Matt le Page, and very good it was too....

I know Matt, he doesnt do the offshore skipper or yachtmaster courses...
Good bloke though, and enjoyed my first course with him...

Hmmm... My title for this is a bit misleading..... My mistake....

Should have put yachtmaster... Or offshore skipper instead of none....

Only 15 inch or so.... I remember diving there in hellish currents though...

Hiya.

1 metre at Springs, 2.8 at the West end of Straits! Current, tide ad drift current can do 6 knots.

Nothing like CIs though....

However if you fancy a change, try Steve Flood (also an examiner) at motorboatfasttrack.com Top bloke.
