Take it you don't have much time for them nowdays.

OK, how about we do something about it, and all register and turn up enmasse. Then it won't get cancelled, and we can say what we think? Just a thought

Less likely to be cancelled if people go, and we could do it as a social event

Arguements against?

Then we'll let the pro lobby have a shot?

So, next springs forum meet will be in Cowes then. The meet sounds like a good larf, why spoil it with getting the RYA involved.
In the short time that I've been on this forum I've met more people and had more of a laugh than in all the years I've been a member of the RYA.

I play with motor boats for me. Only me and I aint paying for the privelidge for some jumped up git, to get me to sail from Plymouth To Cows. So he can tell me what I'm doing wrong and charge 50 squid to get me into his net. That lot just love regulation. Thats what they make a living and survive off. Now if they just wanted to help. They would tell me freely, To buy some new life jackets or flairs. The LBI does.

Tend to agree - it is better to influence from within rather than through brickbats from the outside.

Best cup of tea at SIBS from the RYA marquee so perhaps the food and drink will be good there also.

Worth a try.

So don't go? Let some other loudmouths go? The ones that think regulations and training are proper?

So, you gonna go and voice an opinion, or just stay on the sidelines?

Re: RYA & Motorboatss

Hi Brendan
The RYA and Motorboaters,as far as I can see, they are not on the same planet!!!!!

S.O.L.A.S surely that only affects boats over 50 foot, that leave the Marina??? it must be a serious reg to break, because the nearly new 50 footer that was delivered to my marina in the summer hasn't moved since !! I asked the owner why he has not gone any where and he said it had to comply with S.O.L.A.S so he wasn't moving it, till it did.UUMMM sounds like some heavy S**t to me !!! coz it still hasn't left the Marine yet!!!!

Fuel deregulation!!!. The big power boats, and little ones don't go out much, if at all, with some exceptions Of course, of which i am not one. Raggies don't use enough to even consider the cost of fuel, 2/1 to the RYA

Navigation is damn well complicated enough, without adding more aids / or viruses to go wrong.

Breathalysers, just another, ploy to to grab more money out of us, this however must be a concern to the Raggies as they are unlikely to out run the mobo that will be used to nick-em.

Regulation, too much already, why do they insist we have more ???

And their role in attempting to make things more accessable to the public ??? Try persuading Yacht clubs to drop their membership prices from £ XXXX per family, and use personnel that can acyually speak the local lingo/dialect without a gob full of plums!!!

Yes Dear I;m going to bed now, that was an excellent bottle of wine !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not stirring at all. Why bother, from what I can see its gonna cost 50 odd quid for a 21 footer with two people on board. I've been paying my membership for the past x years and got bugger all for it as far as I can see. So why line there pockets with more.

Ok we go to this thing en-masse. We make a few noises in the right places. How much notice do you think they are going to take of us. Not much. Noise have been made before regarding the RYA and motorboats, even on this forum. From what I can see not an awful lot has changed.

Would be good to hear about a few things that would interest me/us/them about new solas rules etc etc. But if we wanted to get info and the like, why not organise a trip/meet with RNLI and have en-masse boat checks. Then all donate 30/40 quid to them for a look round the Poole HQ and Boat check.
