a planning application for a fish farm (rope mussel farm) way up in the North West of Scotland (some 900miles from solent) at loch Melfort was objected to by the RYA as a restriction to navigation and for which I doff my bunnet to them whatever your view on the merits of the application ...

another objector was an ex-RNLI contributor from Fleetwood who keeps his auld ebespacher-less boat there and in his statement of objection he complained of the difficulties he anticipated he would have in mooring his boat as he requires a clear, unobstructed, path to his mooring and in anything other than a flat calm could not negotiate a safe passage.

Thinking of his difficulties, I wonder if I should recomend he invest in an inflatable collar or hard rubber ring such as is fitted to dodgem cars and would that solve his problem?

Re: Ah but.

Good to hear that good news is expected soon, and it is pleasing that the RYA and our friend down South were keen enough to lodge their objections.
I'm not against Fish farming but at times they tend to spoil the enviroment of others.

Jim.

Re: Ah but.

Just read the report on the website -

Sorry I don't know how to make hotlinks

There was a strong and sensible sounding lobby of protest - the existing farming activity has grown considerably over the past 12 months and there's quite a large shore operation now - hope this has pissed on their chips.
