RYA Dayskipper practical Gibraltar

At that time my boat was chartered with Hamble School of Yachting and they kindly gave me an instructor and crew one evening to teach me how to berth with 4kts of tide running through the berth.

There is tidal and there is tidal!!

I chose Gib to make it a holiday in the sunshine for 1st officer but IMHO best learning curve is to do DS or YM in the Solent area in windy weather.

We did DS with All Abroad about 10 years ago. Very happy customers. The tidal part relates to navigation planning as it is true that all the berths in the area are in man made marinas that are well sheltered from the tide, unlike many of the berths in the solent which are generally in river mouths and natural harbours.

Sailing in Gibraltar if you have not before is well worth it. The ability of drying out sadly is not likely in any ports you visit.

Say hello to Queens Way Marina and buy some Diamonds too.... about 1/3 the cost of UK Diamonds - just barter hard and buy them loose ;-) Oh and Go for nothing other than Internally Flawless and take along your 20x Mag and show all the diamonds are full of imperfections at 20x ;-)

I did my Day Skipper in Gib. OK I guess but only OK

Have you considered the Canaries? Nice weather and great sailing. Several friends have used Canary Sail and have been happy.
