rya correspondence courses

Need to take vhf exam soon, read the books, seems straightforward, but my local night school aren't running the course till November.

If you do a correspondence course, do you have to attend somewhere for the exam, or is that by post too?
I'm about as far as you can be geographically from anywhere near the sea where most sea schools seem to be located (mid w yorks)

Did mine at Barnsley College - in a class room. There are courses done in local Colleges and community centres all over the place - not sure when, but RYA should have a list and there were certainly plenty in West Yorks when I did mine.

We did our VHF as a one day course at Hoylake sailing school on the Wirral. It is a one day course with the exam and results at the end of the day and costs about 80 quid. It'll probably take you about an hour and a half to get there. They run courses through the year.
