I see, are there any other options?

Yes there are

The RYA keelboat courses are a fantastic way to learn to sail. Where a key part of the comp crew course is about living on board, gas procedures, safety briefinggs etc the RYA Keelboat courses focus simply on sailing and tend to run 0930-1700 or similar

Each courses is 2 days, the scheme starts with the Level 1,2 & 3 and then progresses onto 5 advanced options (spinnakers, racing, day sailing, performance saling and seamanship) in the same way as the dinghy scheme does.

Good insight there thanks for the post. The prospect of living on a boat is beautiful, the only problem for me is that I'm 23 years old and after emailing a few of the sailing schools it seems as though all the other students are in their 50/60s. I have no problem spending time with people older than me but I'm sure you can understand preferring to be with people my age!

When I did my dazed kipper practical there were 2 lads in their twenties doing their comp crew, me (late 40's) and the instructor (thirty something). We all got on really well. Go along within open mind you might be pleasantly surprised.
