Just received my RYA certificate, Powerboat level 2, which I got via a test without taking the course. On the little card it says "Assistance required to complete the course"

WTF is that about?

Normally something to do with the candidate having a disability?

I would contact the school first as endorsements are normally for under 16's or as said above certain disabilities. If they do not re-issue a correct one, then contact the training dept of the RYA.

On the basis of the above suggestions I conclude that it was a standard line of print on the ticket that should normally have been crossed out. To back that up, the references to inland/coastal* and planing/displacement* (*delete as appropriate) had not been marked either.

As you say it makes no odds to me so I'm not going to stress about it. It just seemed odd at first sight.

like the cert it means nothing.

So say the ignorant!

Snowleopard, if the school hasn't completed the license properly, I'd go back to them (or the RYA if they don't) to do so as it is all registered on line with the RYA and it may come back to bite you in the future depending on your use of it. Contrary to what some might think, it is a valuable cert as can be seen by the security measures to get them issued. After all it was obviously worth you taking the time and money to do it in the first place.

SnowLeopard didn't do it by choice, he was forced to by the organisation he drives the boat for. Hence his lack of interest in the issue - as long as that organisation is happy with it, its purpose is achieved.

That said, if it were me I'd be getting it fixed. You never know what you might want to use it for in future.
