Hi, on our boat there is a Rutland WG910 wind generator which hadn't been fitted. However it does seem to power just fine. Unfortunately, Marlec the manufacturers stopped making this unit 2 years ago and no longer supply a regulator for same. Anybody have any ideas as to what I could use instead?
Declan.

No, unfortunately Marlec have told me that the regulators are not compatible. They say that the MII WG910 was a single phase generator whereas the 913 and the FM910-3 are 3 phase. I don't even know the difference!

I bought a 913 last year, and fitted a dual bank dual feed unit from them which auotmatically charges whichever bank needs it, and takes feeds from both the solar panel and the wind generator. It feathers the 913 when the voltage gets to 14.1 volts, and there is a manual switch which does the same.
I was on the boat yesterday and the solar panel was doing all the work in a force 1 wind. I cant remember exactly the controller name but HRDX comes to mind - cost about £100 and well worth it

Yeah, I got one of these, but unfortunately it's not compatible with the WG910. Asmentioned above the WG910 is single phase whereas the 913 is 3 phase.

What about a regulator for an Aero2gen or an Aero4gen? Could you find out if these are single or three phase chargers.

Basically, if the output is DC and not AC (from the generator) any solar panel regulator should work, so long as the max charge is above that which your 910 will output.

Do you mean regulator or rectifier, I thought these were all ac generators, the later ones being 3 phase, and there was a small internal rectifier with the output for our use being dc. It is on my little 501. If so then any regulator would work wouldn't it? my understanding is that as the voltage reaches about 13.8v the regulator starts to allow the excess to soak away as heat, hence the large cooling fins.
