It's time to upgrade our poor old rutland 913. We have a full installation including an HRDX controller. The obvious upgrade would be a Rutland 914i but I am rather attracted by the superior power curve on the Silentwind. On the other hand, my german sailing pal has just returned two defective Silentwinds which appear to have suffered very early bearing failure so I would appreciate any other views on the subject as well as any experiences from readers who have tried to hook a Silentwind to a Marlec controller, please.

The Rutland comes out very well against the competition ....if you look at 3rd day data it equals the big 3 bade versions, at half the cost. A daily average of more than 10 kts average speed is unusual in a sheltered marina.

Imho, I'd stick with the new Rutland.
