I have installed the wind gen', the installation manual suggests using 2.5mm cable, but being me I used 1.5mm arctic cable about 5m length, will this affect the performance/output a great deal or do I have to change it?

Having just fitted mine and watching the charging rates on the HRDX controller I can confirm the only time you might have a problem is when the batteries are really run down.

Most of the time the generator is producing a lot of power but is shunted away if it is more than the battery needs.

Can you confirm wether you have a controller or not ?

Yes, an HRDX, bit over the top for my Elizabethan 30 with 2 x 100ampH batteries, but I wanted to be free of shore power and able to boot up my old Bukh 10 (1972) with confidence! What cable did you use?

I used the 2.5mm2 because I run the inverter a lot for SWIMBOs luxuries and tend to really bash all the batteries quite hard - your 1.5mm2 should be good for a maximum of 14/15 amps but less for the length of run you have to avoid the voltage drop.

I have rarely found the HRDX show more than 6 to 8amps in for my situation so I think that if you monitor the actual input into your batteries even in strong winds it will put your mind at rest.

I also used 2.5sq mm cable on my 915 - but I've a longer cable run than you.

Be warned, given enough wind, these things can produce over 20 amps. I know - mine managed to blow the 20a fuse in the HRDX.

I only read the bit about cable being rated for 10amps before installing! My mistake, have just got back after changing to 2.5mm arctic cable, all done now.
