Rusty bolts

Im out of hibernation and have started getting the boat ready for the water with a wash and deep wax . The swim platform holding down bolts are streaked with rust but the bolts themselves are still solid.Given that the bolts are surrounded by GRP whats the best way to clean and protect them , is there a chemical out there thats easy to get hold of and won't damage the gellcoat ? thanks for the advice in advance

oxalic acid, it works on rustains on grp too

Or Starbright Stainless Steel Rust Remover, but more expensive, but in handy spray bottle, works as well.

You can always nick an empty spray bottle from her indoors. With oxalic cristals you can make the liquid as strong or as weak as you like, you can also mix it with wallpaper paste to paste onto stubborn stains and leave it to work its magic
